As the world enters its third year of the global COVID-19 pandemic, existing healthcare systems remain overwhelmed and under resourced. Healthcare workers and volunteers continue to be faced with unprecedented challenges in caring for patients and protecting themselves from infection. Since the onset of the pandemic, a greater understanding of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has developed, vaccines have become widely available, and novel treatment approaches are being tested. Despite these advances, the pandemic poses an ongoing and serious threat to people across the world and continues to challenge healthcare workers and systems.
Global Midwife Response adheres to the same clinical practice guidelines and practice recommendations regarding COVID-19 as published by the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and other leading global healthcare organizations. In accordance with these guidelines, Midwife Pilgrim requires all volunteers to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.
Working community and provider resource lists that are updated with the most current information and recommendations for pregnancy and reproductive healthcare available can be accessed through the links above.
