The word Kiseko is derived from the projects zone of operation:  Kisumu Town,  Seme and Korongo -   Kiseko.  In addition, Kiseko will be working in Kawangware, Nairobi, with FreMo Birth and Medical Centre, to provide care for that community as well.

Kiseko is a community based organization started from the awareness that young women and girls in these areas are more vulnerable to early pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases/HIV due to poverty.  The lack of hygiene supplies often leads to missing school and has a detrimental effect.   Misinformation regarding reproductive health also increases risks.

Vision: To enhance capacity building for young women and girls to ensure future sustainability and economic growth.

Mission:  To mobilize and build capacity of the girls through provision of education and training, menstrual supplies and reproductive health education and care.

Global Midwife Response is partnering with Kiseko Development Initiative to provide hygiene kits and access to reproductive heath care and education.  Utilizing Days for Girls educational models and hygiene kits as well as working with local healthcare facilities to provide reach out to high risk girls, Kiseko hopes to make a difference in the communities it is serving.
